Project “Faces of Hope” by Armin Pflanz
Dessine l’Espoir gave carte blanche to Armin Pflanz, a German artist living in South Africa for 20 years, to produce a series of portraits of women supported by the association, in South Africa and Swaziland.
He followed the actors of Designing Hope and captured them in their homes, villages or townships.
Fashion designers (Lanvin, Castelbajac, Cacharel, Paule K and Paul Smith) were solicited for this project and handed over textiles from their collections that were used locally to make women’s headdresses with townships dressmakers.
