ARTPARIS+GUESTS welcomes for the 4th time Dessine l’Espoir with a special event this year: A charity diner will be hold at the opening of the fair benefiting the NGO, followed by the exhibition of photographs from Armin Pflanz: “Faces of Hope”.
ARTPARIS+GUESTS artfair has been supporting Designing Hope since 2006, emphasising close connexions developped by the NGO between Art and humanitarian actions.For this new edition 2010, ARTPARIS+GUESTS organizes a charity dinner before the public opening of the fair, benefiting Designing Hope, under the patronage of Lady Cristina Owen-Jones, Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS Prevention Education at UNESCO.
This dinner will be hold under the impressive glassroof of the Grand Palais, in the main amongst the galleries. Designing Hope was kindly supported by fashion designers and artists who signed the decoration of the tables: Agnès b. , Louis Edwards for Pierre Cardin, Beatrice Caracciolo, Thierry Colson, Courrèges, Loulou de la Falaise, Madame Ines de la Fressange, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagarfeld, Maison Martin Margiela, Thierry Mugler, Joy de Rohant-Chabot, Franck Sorbier, Paul Smith, Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent, Viktor&Rolf.
Each artist and designer designed a flowers, that was reproduced in beads and wire in South Africa for the Center Table and embroided in Swaziland on the table runners.
These handcrafted flowers created a bridge between the populations supported by the NGO and the donnors gathered for the dinner.

During the fair, Designing Hope presents the exhibition “Faces of Hope”, from photographer Armin Pflanz.
Armin Pflanz has been contributing several times to the NGO’s campaigns since 2006. This year, he followed the actors of Designing Hope in South Africa and Swaziland and capture them in their homes, villages or townships.Fashion designers were also sollicited to select and donnate fabric that was used for the design of the hats, handmade by local semstresses. This created a reversed linked between the fashion designers and the women after years of involvement of more than 80 fashion icons in the “Fashion designing hope” initiative.
